ROCKFORD - Paul Edward Espy, age 77, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Tuesday December 7, 2021. Born April 10, 1944 in Centerville, IA to Delmar & Ione Espy (McDaniel). Ed worked most of his life as an Ironworker, a proud member of Local 498 in Rockford for 45 years. He was a long time member of St. Anthony's Church in Rockford for over 40 years. Ed enjoyed playing golf, building things in his free time and loved animals; caring for many house pets and wild ones over the years. He will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Parlow) Espy; brother, Larry (Charlotte) Espy; step-daughter, Kathy Davidson; and dear friend, Verlene McCauley. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Laddie, John, Lanny & Randy Espy; sister, Annie Johnson; and his favorite dog, Foxy.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Saturday December 18, 2021 from 11am - 3pm at Local 498, 5640 Sockness Drive, Rockford, IL. Eulogy Vigil Services held at 12 noon, reception to follow.  Cremation rites accorded.  Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
