Charlotte A. (Stahl) Pratt 1945—2018
Charlotte A. (Stahl) Pratt, 72, of Machesney Park, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at Swedish American Hospital. Born November 23, 1945, in Rockford, the daughter of Charles and Maida (Wise) Stahl. She graduated from East High School, Class of 1963. Charlotte worked at H.C. Johnson Press. She was a member of Heartland Community Church. Charlotte formerly attended Shiloh Free Church and First Free Church. She volunteered with the Rockford Police Department's Cap Program. Survived by her husband, Jesse "Butch" Smith; son, Tyrone (Melissa) Pratt; daughters, Kristin McLester and Erin (Tim) Mackey; stepdaughter, Kellie (Chris) Hayes of Spring City, TN; stepson, Shawn (Michelle) Smith; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Hawkinson, Shirley (Deane) Hansen, Evelyn (Dennis) Johnson, Colleen Novak-Duncan, and Diane (Terry) Windle; sister-in-law, Pam Stahl; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; and brothers, Wayne and Chuck Stahl. The family would like to thank the CCU and 7th floor nurses at Swedish-American Hospital for their extraordinary care.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. During my last visit to Rockford, I ran into Char at the Stockholm Inn Restaurant! It was such a surprise and so much fun to see her and get ‘caught up’! And now, it is a surprise to learn of her passing - I am so very sorry. She was quite a lady. She will be missed.
