Obituary

ALAN JAMES PALM, 68 ROCKFORD - Alan James Palm, 68, Rockford, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 4, 2013, in his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1945, in Rockford, the son of James W. and Carolyn (Olson) Palm. He graduated from Rockford East High school, Class of 1963, later he graduated from Rockford Business College. Alan joined the Navy where he served our country aboard ship and then was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He worked in inventory control for the Rockford Housing Authority for many years. Alan always had an interest in antiques and spent his free time exploring shops in Northern Illinois. Alan enjoyed the challenge of investing and spent time educating his friends and business associates in this area. He was a member of Bethesda Covenant Church. Survivors include his brother, Dennis (Maryann) Palm of Rockford; his nieces and nephew, Kristie Palm of Laveen, Ariz., Rebecca Palm, and Joshua Palm, both of Rockford. Predeceased by his parents. Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., with the Rev. David Lindfors, pastor of Bethesda Covenant Church, officiating. Visitation from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Private family burial in Arlington Memorial Park at a later date.
