Sheila M.Carlson, 77, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Fairhaven Retirement Center.  Born April 23, 1945, in Rockford, the daughter of Stanley O. and Elaine M. (Anderson) Johnson.  Graduate of East High School, Class of 1963 and Rockford College.  Sheila married Gary E. Carlson on September 8, 1967 at Bethesda Covenant Church.  She worked for Parker Pen in Janesville, WI and was the Social Service Director at Fairhaven.  Sheila was a lifelong member of Bethesda Covenant Church where she was a member on many committees and helped run the Alley Walk.  She enjoyed sewing and traveling to National Parks, London and Rome.  Sheila also enjoyed cooking, making Korv with the family and pickling and making jams.  She won 1st place at the Boone Co. fair for her pickles. 

Survived by her husband, Gary; children, Bernt (Jill) Carlson of Belvidere and Britta (Brian) Swanson of Rockford; grandchildren, Martin, Christian (fiancée, Renee Hahn) & Garrett Carlson and Magnus and Kaisa Swanson; and brother-in-law, Gordon (Chris) Johnson; sister-in-law, Madolyn (Jerome) Kareckas; nieces, Kristi Hollingsworth and Kjerstin (Brett) Ferullo; and nephew, Rev. Kenton (Gretchen) Johnson.  Predeceased by her parents; and sister Christine Johnson.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 E. State St., Rockford.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. prior to the service.  Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Bethesda Covenant Church.  To share a memory or condolence please visit olsonfh.com.
