Donald A. “Don” Edlund, 75, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at SwedishAmerican Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Born August 25, 1945, in Rockford, the son of Arthur and Lorraine (Stenglein) Edlund. Graduate of Rockford East High School, Class of 1963 and Rock Valley College. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Don married Arlite Thompson on December 1, 2013 in Rockford. Don was in the hospitality field and co-owner of the Riverboat. He also worked and retired from the City of Rockford as an inspector. Don loved to spend time at his ‘home in the woods” and fish on Long Lake in WI and hunt deer.

Survived by his loving wife, Arlite; children, Lisa (Jim) Jefko of Roscoe, Paul (Cassie) Edlund of Guam, Amy Croxford of Rockford, and Eric (Laurie) Rutledge of Tega Cay, SC; grandchildren, Leanna, Lorraine, Kevin, Ryan, Dylan, Kathryn, Ethan and Brooklyn; and three brothers and one sister. Special thanks to his brother, Randy for always being there for him whether it was helping with a project or just sharing memories and laughs. Predeceased by his parents; and sister-in-law, Jane.

Private family service will be held. Don’s ashes will eventually be scattered over his favorite fishing spot. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO BOX 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
