Diane C. Kohel, 78, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Diane was born on November 11, 1944, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of A. Martin and Josephine (Ethington) Beckman. She married Gerald “Jerry” Kohel on April 22, 1972, in Woodstock, IL. Diane retired from Harvard Head Start, where she worked as a cook.

Diane is survived by her husband Jerry; her children Marie (Woody) Woodcock, Larry Lenz, Jeff Lenz, and Bruce (Elena) Kohel; her grandchildren Luis (Roxanna) Zazueta, Dalton (Josephine) Lenz, Ben (Lidia) Woodcock, Logan (Alex) Lenz, Fernanda Zazueta, and Maddie Woodcock; and her great-grandchildren Jocelyn Lenz, Georgia Lenz, and Adeline Lenz.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Josephine Beckman, and her brothers Paul Beckman, and Randy Beckman.

A private family graveside service will be held with interment to follow at McHenry County Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 10 AM until the 11 AM service at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Claire Brennecka officiating, 7100 Harvard Hills Rd., Harvard, IL 60033.
