Obituary

JAMES H. BEAVER, 63 ROCKFORD LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER - James H. Beaver, 63, of Rockford died at 5:51 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, in SwedishAmerican Hospital Emergency Room after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Born May 27, 1945, in Chicago, the son of John A. and Geraldine (Behn) Beaver. Lived most of his life in Rockford, coming from Chicago. Married Lynn A. Kelley in Rockford, on Dec. 20, 1969. Completed journeyman in Tool and Die from JL Clark in 1967. Employed by Banner Tool and Die. Started his own business, Beaver Tool and Die in 1987, and continued working through his illness until the end. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 392 and Lyran Society. Was an avid fisherman with his own boat, which he had for 37 years. Trap shooting and hunting were also his hobbies. He loved his dog, Toby. Graduated from East High School in 1963. Survivors include wife, Lynn of Rockford; son, James A. (Hannah) Beaver of Gahanna, Ohio; daughters, Marcia L. Smith and Cheryl (Chris) Clint, both of Rockford; mother, Geraldine Beaver; grandchildren, Nona and Emma Beaver, Justin, Gabe and Nikki Smith; brother, Dennis (Shirley) Beaver; sisters, Darlene Graham and Chris (Greg) Stark, all of Rockford; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by father. Service at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in Wilbur Christenson Funeral Home and Cremation Services Ltd., 925 Third Ave., with visitation from 11 a.m. to time of service.
