Joanne M. Ahlstrom, 71, of Rockton, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, in Swedish American Hospital. She was born May 5, 1945, in Rockford; the daughter of Glenn and Margaret (Peterson) Rehnberg. She married Glenn B. Ahlstrom on November 13, 1965; he predeceased her June 11, 2013. Joanne was a 1963 graduate of East High School. After raising her children, she was a Medical Secretary for Dr. Al Hudson and then opened and operated L.C. Grizzly’s Trading Co. in Edgebrook Center from 1989 to 1998. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Joanne loved the Northwoods in all seasons and enjoyed many years of snowmobiling. Glenn and Joanne also enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel trailer. The joys of Joanne’s life were her grandchildren and her many visits to Sweden. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Mattias) Widenbrant of Sweden; son, Jeff Ahlstrom of Rockford; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew and Henry Widenbrant; brother, Brad (Emily Bates) Rehnberg; sister-in-law, MaryAnn (Dallas) Richards, and aunt, Bridget Rehnberg.Predeceased by her parents; and infant son. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61107 with Rev. Dr. Mark Hagen officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church.
